Bringing more than a decade of legal experience to her role, Chen Qian advises Aptaria on issues related to intellectual property and patents.
Chen’s years as a software engineer, as well as her knowledge of litigation and patent law, prepared her for practicing in a corporate setting and in the technology industry. Prior to her legal career, Chen designed and developed data analytics software, SDK, and customized web applications.
She has practiced law at Fish & Richardson, the nation’s top intellectual property law firm, where she represented high-profile clients in high-stake patent litigations. She has also prepared and prosecuted patent applications in various high-tech subject areas in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Chen earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She went on to earn her master’s degree in computer engineering from Lehigh University and a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
An active member of the Virginia State Bar and Washington DC Bar Association, Chen is also a registered patent attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is affiliated with the American Bar Association, American Corporate Counsel Association, and American Intellectual Property Law Association.
